Copper Nickel Fasteners are better known as cupronickel fasteners in the industry. The fasteners range in specifications as ASTM /ASME SB 151 and 152. The copper nickel 70/30 Fasteners have 70% copper and 30% nickel in the content. The copper content provides the fasteners with high corrosion resistance against acids. The copper nickel 90/10 Fasteners have 90% copper in the composition. This very high copper makes the fasteners extremely resistant against acids. Therefore the Cupro Nickel Bolts are used in chemical processing, acid processing, food processing and in petroleum and flue gas processing applications. The size of the fasteners range from M4 to M100. The length of the fasteners can range up to 5meters. The copper nickel nuts can be hot forged or cold forged in production.
There are different types of fasteners such as the bolts, nuts, screws, sockets, studs and others. The nickel copper screws can be used in low toughness and high ductility requiring applications. The Cu-ni Heavy Hex Nuts are used in applications such as electric, electronic and equipment where high temperatures and high tensile strengths are involved. The specific composition of the fasteners make them expensive. The Copper Nickel Threaded Rod is used without a head to the fastener so that it is fitted with two components or with nuts. The rods could be threaded differently to suit the application requirement. The Cu-Ni 90/10 Head Hex Bolts are used in sea water and marine applications as they last longer without corroding.
