The heat treated bar stock of the a194 2h material is used to produce these nuts with the specific hardness, heat treatment and chemical composition. The nuts can range from ¼ inches to 1 ½ inches in nominal size with the number of threads per inches ranging from 8 to 20.
The Brinell hardness of the ASTM A194 Grade 2H Hex Nuts and others range from 212 to 327BHN depending on the nut size. The quenched and tempered heat treatment is applied at 455 degrees Celsius. There are different types such as the grade 2h coupling nuts which are used to couple two components together. The tensile strength of the nuts varies from 150ksi to 175ksi.
