Astm A193 B8C Bolts come in class 1 and class 2 specifications. Viha Steel & Forging is a leading manufacturer and supplier of the different types of fasteners in both classes. The fasteners of ASTM A193 B8c Class 1 and class 2 fasteners are made up of 347 grade austenitic stainless steel. It is a high tensile material grade that can withstand high stress and high temperatures. The class 1 fasteners are carbide solution treated and the class 2 fasteners are solution treated and strain hardened. The ASME Sa 193 Gr. B8C Class 1 Studs are made up of carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, 10% nickel, 16% chromium and 2% molybdenum.
This allows the material to have 75ksi minimum tensile strength and the minimum yield strength of 30ksi. The material is corrosion resistant and the ASTM A193 Grade B8c bolts can be used in high corrosive applications. These are used in the belt furnaces, hearth and conveyor applications and pusher type applications. However, the A193 B8c Screw Material is not very resistant to sulfuric acids. So the applications that deal with the sulfuric acids and variations should be avoided. There are different types such as studs, threaded rods, screws, bolts, nuts and washers.
The A193 B8c Class 1 Material is used in high tensile applications due to the high strength and has high hardness. The class 2 has more hardness but the class 1 is the most common in the B8C grade of fasteners.
