317 Stainless Steel Fasteners are made up of a chromium nickel molybdenum alloy that is corrosion resistant and strong. Viha Steel & Forging is a leading manufacturer and supplier of the different types of stainless steel 317l fasteners in different dimensions and shapes. The material has 19% chromium, 12.5% nickel, 3.25% molybdenum, iron, carbon, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, nitrogen and manganese in the composition. The 317 stainless steel bolts and nuts are resistant to chemical attacks, better than other austenitic stainless steel grades.
There are different types of the fasteners such as studs, bolts, nuts, screws and others. The 317 SS Stud Bolt is used to attach components with narrow spaces. The material has high hardness of 217HBW. So the material can be used in high stress environment. The SS 317 Socket Cap Screw is one of the screw types which can be used without the need for a nut to fasten it. The products have 515MPa minimum tensile strength and 205MPa minimum yield strength. There is good rupture and creep resistance due to the molybdenum content in the UNS S31700 studs as well.
They have good electrical resistivity and magnetic permeability with 40% elongation at break. The density of this material is slightly lower than that of the other austenitic grade UNS S31703 bolts. These fasteners have a melting point of 1320 degrees Celsius and therefore they can operate under elevated temperatures as well. The operating temperature of the DIN 1.4449 fasteners can range up to 899 degrees Celsius.
